Type Locality and Naming
Along the Arg River, Zarafshan-Gissar mountain region.
O.I. Nikiforova (330, pp. 5-20) under the name Arg suite; A.E. Dovzhikov, V.R. Martyshev et al. (467, pp. 33-35) raised to the rank of suite. A.I. Kim et al. (227, p. 55) raised to the rank of series. Stratotype in the middle course of the Arg. River.

Lithology and Thickness
A.I. Lavrushevich (263, pp. 20-21) subdivided into Kuturak Fm, Kupruk Fm, and Khavzak Fm. V.R. Martyshev (290) divided it into two sub-suites: Lower - amphiporoid limestones and Upper - foliophyllid and brachiopod limestones. The series is composed of dolomites and dolomitic limestones with a total thickness of 1000-1200 m.

Lower contact
In the stratotype, it conformably overlies the Shing Fm
Upper contact
It is conformably overlain by the Madmon Fm and Akbasay Fm.
